Inventory Rotation

Dear Friends,

Many of you will soon begin “spring-cleaning” operations at you facilities, and now is a good time to remind you of the importance of proper paint inventory maintenance, more specifically – paint inventory rotation.

A fundamental principle of inventory management is proper inventory rotation.  Rotating stock and using older inventory first helps ensure that the material will be used within its specified shelf-life, and greatly reduces the chances of having the material expire before it can be used.

Each container of paint that you receive has a batch number and manufacture date printed on the product label.  This information will help you manage the age of your paint stock.

The shelf life of any coating will vary depending on the specific chemical composition of the formulation; most are in the 6 to 12 month range in a closed container.

Please contact your Century account manager for product specific shelf-life data.  Each year we have a few customers who wind up with unusable paint due to poor stock rotation procedures.  Please have your team take a few extra minutes to rotate your stock.  This will help keep fresh paint on your substrate and help minimize your paint waste due to expired products.

Regards,
