Plastic Tote Recycling Program

Dear Friends,

Well over half our paint volume is shipped in plastic totes, virtually all of which are brand new ones.  While using new totes is an expensive proposition, we believe it is important to use new totes in most all cases to avoid any possibility of paint contamination.

Included in the price of your paint (if you buy in totes) is a tote recycling service.  You call a 1-800 number and the recycler picks up your used totes from your facility.  They clean and re-use the metal cage, valve, and lid.

The actual plastic container is cleaned, ground down, then recycled into other plastic products.  It is very important that you follow the recycler's guidelines regarding proper tote handling before you schedule a pickup. This will help you avoid any unnecessary charges due to residual paint waste disposal resulting from improper draining.  The guidelines for pickup/disposal can be found by clicking here.

Using the recycling service listed on the tote label helps keep our container costs down.  However, some choose to use other recyclers, or are giving totes to employees or others for their own personal use. Keep in mind, that the customer (end user) owns the totes and disposing of the totes properly can help avoid legal issues.

We ask for your help in keeping our costs down (and your prices down!) by always using our preferred recycler rather than other options.  Details on this service can be found by clicking here; there are also some details printed on each tote.

If you need specific information regarding our tote recycling service please contact Erika Garcia in Customer Support and she can help you out.

As always, please feel free to contact me anytime if there is anything we can do to help you.

Regards,
